The Schiavo case has caused me to reflect upon my personal desires regarding health care directives. I would prefer to let the physical aspect of this life pass - that was my previous perspestive and remains so today. What I will do as a result of this case is to be more specific in my legal documentation, which will lessen the probablility "to pull the plug" and better insure that the decision maker's priviledges are not removed or changed by an intervenor(s). My logic and solace behind that is that God's oversight will still prevail. I trust that divine wisdom will be given to the decision maker. In other words, at such a crucial point, I turn myself over to a far greater power to exercise his power directly or through another. Whatever decision will be made, will be the proper one because any wordly or physical decision will not effect my soul one way or another. It shall continue to live.I did not realize until recently that you live in Brazil. I had the impression you lived in the US. I was reviewing the stats on my web site one day and saw your ISP location associated with your entry. I checked because in a statement you made not long ago (your site or mine, I can't remember) it was obvious you did not live in the US. I was surprised and more so impressed because of the depth of your US based knowledge, etc. Of course I presumed that Brazil is your homeland, which may not be the case.

Of course, I agree with you on everything. I am stunned by the abuse of power in Washington and was rather relieved to learn that most Americans have also noticed how politicians are being opportunistic about this issue. My personal view - about my own life - is simple: I believe that I have to endure whatever fate life reserves for me; I believe it is morally wrong for me to terminate my life, directly or indirectly, just as it is for me to end anybody else's life; thus, in Terri's shoes, I would want to remain alive. As for her situation, I do believe that she has expressed her opposition to being kept alive artificially in a persistent vegetative state and that her wish must be respected - this is not just an issue of life and death but also of free will.
