Pakistani Aid

Desperate Pakistanis Await Earthquake Aid – what a terrible tragedy. Seems like we (US) could do more to help than $50 million and eight helicopters.

Bush-a-Go-Go

The President, demonstrating he’s on top of things in the Gulf Coast region, made his eighth trip to New Orleans today. The president attempting to reassure the locals of his commitment to their plight, will be there for two days.  Bourbon St. must be open now.

By the way, where’s Karl?  He must have lost his position as Crown Prince of Katrina Reconstruction.

Bush actually broke bread this evening with Mayor Nagin and Nagin’s entourage – 17 individuals representing the “Bring Back New Orleans” commission. Given Nagin and Bush’s history, Bush must have offered in advance to pick up the tab for dinner.  Since GWB was buying, I’m betting the menu was Tex-Mex, none of this serious N’awlins cuisine

Trent Duffy, a Bush spokesman (Scotty missing also?), commented on the president’s remarks:

“The president pledged that he would be a partner as the Gulf Coast region recovered and rebuilds itself."

I wonder what exactly does that mean?  More gas guzzling photo-op trips from Washington or maybe Bush has a healthy chunk of Haliburton stock in his portfolio..

If the president would cease being FEMA Director for a little while, maybe he could carve out some time to meet with Scooter Libby and Karl Rove and ask a few serious questions.
