Bright Orange Suits Laundered and Ready

Delay may have a little problem with future golfing trips to Scotland if Ronnie Earle prevails.

DeLay has been charged with conspiracy and money laundering in a campaign finance scheme tied to his political action committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, or TRMPAC. He could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Chatty Cathy Says the Same Thing

Pray tell, how many times have we heard this?

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, facing tough questions about Iraq from Republican and Democratic senators, asserted that progress was being made in securing the country but declined to predict when American forces could withdraw. [Emphasis added.]

When is the administration going to provide some qualitative and/or empirical evidence to support their assertions? “Trust me” is not exactly the best statement to use anymore.

The civilian leadership might as well just purchase an I-Pod and broadcast the same message ad nauseum. The administration’s story is always “we’re making progress”, yet leading generals return from the Middle East with updates of one step forward, two steps backwards.

Who are we supposed to believe, Condi or the generals?

Let’s step back for just a moment (yes, I know, we’ve already done enough stepping back). On September 30, Gen. George W. Casey Jr. and Gen. John P. Abizaid told us that the number of Iraqi army battalions that can stand on their own two feet had dropped from 3 to 1. So, what’s the number this week? What has improved that lends credibility to Madame Vice President, uhh excuse me, Madame Secretary’s assertion of progress? Got any charts to go along with those statements?

Is the administration so naive as to believe passing the Constitution is the cure all to end all? No. It only serves to potentate the civil war that exists today, which administration officials refuse to recognize or disclose. But, then we are all too aware of how the Bush-Cheney tag team view and approach disclosure. Prosecutor Fitzgerald can you fill you in on that if you’re not up to speed.

I fail to understand what is so complicated. Either do the job properly or get the hell out. The rhesus monkey, who comfortably resides on Pennsylvania Ave when not swinging through Texas scrub brush, was clearly told, “If you break it, you own it.” Give Mr. Rove a breath of fresh air for about 30 minutes and send the guy to Wal-Mart for some Elmer’s glue. Put the damn thing back together, and sell the much heralded piece of pottery at Christy’s. We don’t need it any longer.

Better still, just send Michael Brown and Chertoff to Iraq to manage the situation. They’ll just obliterate the place and we can start over — insurgents gone and reconstruction initiated with a level ground.

How many more days do we have until January 20, 2009? That many? Uhh!

AP Provides Some Insight into Rove and Libby’s Testimony

The AP has some detail on Rove and Libby’s testimony to the grand jury. The accounting is primarily Rove’s testimony and on a very quick glance, it reflects more negatively on Libby than Rove. The sources are identified as follows:

“The Rove-Libby contacts were confirmed to The Associated Press by people directly familiar with testimony the two witnesses gave before the grand jury.
