Not looking good for Gonzales and Rove remains behind the curtain

Turd Blossom Another Republican member of Congress is speaking out against Gonzales. CBS is reporting that Rep Dana Rohrbacher (R-CA) has called for Gonzales termination. Additionally, according to CBS, “one Republican strategist close to the White House said that Gonzales is ‘finished’.”

I will probably have a ton of people ripping me to pieces with this statement. I think Gonzales should go, but he is about as much a fall guy as Sampson and Scooter Libby were. The recently revealed emails prove Karl Rove’s participation. Unfortunately for Gonzales, he doesn’t possess the intellect Rove has; therefore, Rove at this point is just a few steps ahead of Gonzales in terms of public outcry and scrutiny. With Congress breathing down Rove’s neck that may not last long.

Gonzales is no dummy, but he is not a top one percent jurist either - never even tried a case in court. He caught on W.’s coat tails a long time ago and has followed along, wagging his tail ever since. Bush pats him on his head, and he wags his tail even more.

The same applies for Harriet Miers.

Turd Blossom and W. are going to try their best to throw Gonzales and Miers under the bus, if necessary, to keep the dogs off of themselves. That wagging dog may get a swift boot from his master.

Ultimately it will be up to the Supreme Court to not let the “underlings” continue to be the fall guy. W. is not going to allow Congress unfettered access to Turd Blossom. Rove may give some token testimony to Congress, but executive privilege will be initiated shortly after Rove says his name for the record.

If W. finds a way to sweep all this under the table (viz. no one else goes down including Gonzales), which he is very good at doing, the man should be declared a genius, with Congress and the American public being deemed morons.
