The Skullduggery to Oust al-Maliki

George Bush and Nuri al-Maliki My posting will be limited today, but I want to ensure I call your attention to one item.

Earlier his week there was considerable speculation Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had lost the support of George Bush. Numerous sources fueled the speculation, but the press conference Bush held Monday seemed to all but confirm what was being reported on newscasts and blogs everywhere.

In stark contrast to the expectations of many, Bush gave a resounding endorsement of al-Maliki in his speech at the VFW national convention on Wednesday. Many presumed, and rightly so, Bush’s flip-flop was directly related to al-Maliki rebuking the vague statements Bush made about him as well as those made by Senators Carl Levin (D-MI) and John Warner (R-VA).

As is the norm for the Bush administration, what is said publicly by the administration doesn’t necessarily reflect reality. The support Bush declared for al-Maliki Wednesday may be no different than all the WMD’s alleged to be in Iraq.

Glenn Greenwald has an excellent piece detailing the skullduggery to oust al-Maliki and George Bush’s ties to the deception. It is must reading.
