Issa Trys to Dismiss Blackwater As GOP Company via Green Party
Trying to portray Blackwater as non-partisan, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) did everything but that when he questioned Erik Prince, CEO of Blackwater, in today’s Blackwater hearing about Prince’s strong family ties to the Republican Party and George Bush.
Issa asked Prince several questions about his sister, Betsy DeVos, a former Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman. Was she a Pioneer for Bush? Was she a large contributor? Didn’t she go to the GOP conventions in 2000 and 2004?
Issa then asked Prince about his contributions to the Republican Party. Prince said he had been a contributor since he was a college student and intended to contribute in the future.
Demonstrating his own stupidity, Issa tried to portray Blackwater as an Independent company simply because a Blackwater employee contributed to the Green Party. After Prince stated someone may have contributed to the Green Party, Issa declared to the Committee that Blackwater should not be labeled a Republican company because some family members contribute to the party. Committee Chairman Henry Waxman responded with, “The only that’s done it is you,” which yielded laughter throughout the room. Waxman further added, “Maybe that’s why all the Republicans are defending the company.
Check out the video…it’s pure comic relief, especially the end.
