Update
I have personal business that I must take care of today, therefore, it is doubtful I will be able to post anything today.
I have personal business that I must take care of today, therefore, it is doubtful I will be able to post anything today.
My posting is limited today due to the the Senate Hearings on the Petraeus Report. I will have more updates after I have finished reviewing the hearings.
I must have the bubonic plague today, because I feel like crap. Unless someone comes by with a miracle drug, I will not be posting today.
Site maintenance is scheduled for tonight between 7:45 PM EDT and 2:00 AM EDT tonight. The site should remain available, although you may notice some unusual activity or changes occurring during that time.
If you encounter any problems accessing the site, please let me know.
Our country faces substantial problems well beyond the normal “ups and downs.” In order to better understand these issues and analyze them properly I decided a mini-sabbatical was paramount. It is easy to recognize we are in the midst of a foreign policy and constitutional crisis, however, recognizing the issues and perceived obvious causes is not enough. Commentary and analysis are only as good as the level of research and understanding behind them. Furthermore, doing extensive research has its price. In this case, and regrettably, a hiatus in posting was the cost of doing the necessary extensive research.
So, I offer my apologies for the brief absence, however I know the short- and long-term benefits will outweigh the cost.
Many thanks to nouspell for a special effort in sending traffic this way.
Late Update: I believe we have determined the source of the problem and may have things back to normal soon.
If you subscribe to TPC via a syndication feed (RSS) like My Yahoo, FeedDemon, Google Reader, etc., you may not be getting all of the posts through the feed. I’ve noticed some anomalies with the feeds since we transferred to this site last week; however they seemed to be limited to statistical reporting rather than actual syndication.
I don’t have a clue at the moment what the problem may be. Since there are at least three separate entities involved in making the feeds available, one of which is FeedBurner, I cannot begin to guess the severity of the problem or how long it may take to rectify it. For now, no changes will be made to redirect the feeds, but please be aware you may not be receiving all posts in the interim. Of course, you can come directly to the site and not miss anything, If the problem persists for more than 24 hours, I may redirect the feeds, but that’s more of a last resort circumvention.
My apologies for the inconvenience and I hope to have this resolved quickly.
If you notice slow response time on the site today, it’s because we’re still working on the conversion…doing some behind the scenes “stuff.” If it is woefully slow please let us know. Sorry for the interruption.
TPC switched to the new system last night –you’re looking at it — and I am exhausted. The past four days (and nights) have been long, but well worth it. I had to crash today and get some rest, so that’s why there aren’t any new posts today. If I get an unexpected boost of energy, you’ll know it by any posts I may make.
For those of you new to TPC and are not quite sure what this switching stuff is all about, basically we have implemented a new design and system. If you’re really bored, you can find more information about the changes here (the old site).
Thanks!

TPC is transferring to a new system this weekend. We want to make sure you don?t get lost in the transfer, so if you haven?t read our announcements, please click here for additional information.
We?re still working away. I only slept three hours last night, but that was expected. We?ve run into one problem, that could be a big one. To get the scoop, please click here for additional information.
Just a quick update on the new system. We are heads-down working on the transfer; being able to start at 9:00 PM EDT tonight is optimistic, but we’re still on go status for whatever time.
With the exception of transfer updates, we will not do any posting until the transfer is complete, unless something extraordinary happens. And, it could, the government likes to release bad news on Fridays.
Thanks for sticking with us!
It looks like it is time to make the switch. TPC will migrate to the new system this weekend and I think you’ll like it. There is a lot of work to do before the switch can be made, but I’m confident it can be accomplished.
The transfer should be transparent, but just in case something does happen, I will post a few simple options tomorrow evening to serve as a backup plan. We don’t want anybody to get lost in the shuffle.
We plan to start the transfer this Friday at 9:00 PM EDT and work until we’re done. I can’t say today at what time you will notice changes or how much downtime there may be, if any. More information will follow.
Announcements will be made by posts and on the top right side of the page. We’ll keep you informed.
We’ve got a lot of work to do, therefore, regular posting may not be as frequent this week. Of course, if anything big breaks we can and will put that first and defer the transfer. For example, introducing Articles of Impeachment would probably be a show stopper.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
Yes, the site looks different today. We’re working on implementing changes and unfortunately to do some of those changes, we have to turn on an unfinished product.
Depending on how things go today, this may remain in place ore we may revert to the familiar TPC style.
Although this is not the final product, I would appreciate any comments you may have on what you see thus far.
The software problem I mentioned in the Lieberman post last night turned out to be a hard drive failure. That’s right, it crashed this morning, which has put me behind. It also is probably the reason the Lieberman video is so bad (voice out of synch). The video file is apparently bad.
So, I have a bit of catching up to do…
I’m back from a much needed break. Since I am the sole contributor to TPC, if I take a vacation everything stops, and I prefer that not be the case. To rectify that and advance TPC at the same time, I want to add a contributor(s). I’ll provide more details in a separate post soon, but in the interim, if you’re interested in being a contributor, please let me know.
