Important Info on RSS Syndication Changes
A quick update for those of you that read TPC via RSS (a newsreader, My Yahoo, Google Reader, FeedDemon, Bloglines, etc.) and have are subscribed to the feeds from the old site.
Unfortunately, TPC cannot make all the changes we would like to in a transparent fashion. Moving to a new system rather than making changes to the existing system simply make it impossible.
For multiple reasons, we will need to keep this site available for several days, which means we cannot redirect the RSS/Syndication feeds until much later. In order to receive TPC via RSS, you will need to update your reader with the new feed. I can give a couple of suggestions, but cannot gurantee they will work for every reader.
First, the new feed is available here.
Suggestions:
1. If you have a standalone reader, for example FeedDemon, you can update the properties for the existing TPC feed manually and replace the existing feed address with the new feed above; or, go to the home page, and start a new subscription using the auto-discovery feature of your reader, which most standalone readers have
2. If you use Google Reader, Bloglines or another similar online reader, I can only suggest going to the home page and start a new subscription. I quickly checked Google Reader, but did not find a method to update the properties of an existing feed. If anybody knows how to update the properties for an existing feed in Google Reader or something similar, I would appreciate it if you could let others know by adding a comment to this post.
3. If you use FireFox, you can update the properties of the existing feed much the same way as described in item 1 above or you can go to he home page and start a new subscription.
4. If you use Internet Expolore 7.x, it appears you will need to go to he home page and start a new subscription.
5. If you use the RSS feature of Microsoft Outlook 2007, I think you can update the properties of the existing feed with the new feed’s address.
I wish I could be more helpful, and more importantly I wish that it was not necessary to make these manual changes.
If you have any problems connecting via RSS to the new site, please let me know. I want to make any transition as trouble-free as possible.
Thanks for your understanding, cooperation, and most important of all, your valued readership!
